21 Years!

I was married at age 21 and now we just celebrated our 21st anniversary! We weren't quite sure what we were going to do to celebrate, but about a week or so before, a friend from the Canton Ward (we're in the Plymouth Ward ) asked if we wanted to go camping with their family a few others from their ward. Victoria is really good friends with the daughters from those three families and one of the moms is my Zumba instructor, plus a good friend. After waffling back and forth in trying to decide, we made a plan. Most of them arrived Thursday evening. We decided a celebration on Friday morning of our anniversary would be a fun change.

We went for a nice trail bike ride together and then got Panera for breakfast, even getting cinnamon rolls for the kids. When they all woke up and were ready, we finished packing up and left to be at Proud Lake by lunchtime.
This trail is so close to our house! We've taken advantage of it during these times.

It was a group site, so we couldn't bring our camper and had to sleep in our tents, but it was worth it! The other sites where the campers and other tents were, were pretty busy with people, but our group site was in a nice secluded area away from all the other people. Just us 4 families were spread out in the group area. We were a little farther from the lake, but we just packed up our picnics and drove there to spend the day on Friday, after we set up camp.

The road up to our campsite.

Just looking up from the road.

You wouldn't think that this is only 30 minutes from our house near very thriving communities!

The Bradford family has about 8 single-seat kayaks and the Gerrard family has a canoe. I brought all of our boogie boards and rings for the kids to float on, and there were a bunch of fun beach games to play.

Jason and I went for a long kayak ride together. It was so beautiful and empty on the water! I didn't get any pictures of when we were out, but it was so nice and peaceful! The part of the lake we were at didn't allow motorized water vehicles (though some were there on Saturday).

We ate good food, visited with friends, and played fun games. If we hadn't planned on going, Jason would have worked on Friday, our anniversary, but instead, we got to hang out together with friends!

Saturday was pretty much the same as Friday, though we did break camp before going to the lake for a few hours. When I started to rain, we left.

Jason and I got some Mediterranean food for our dinner date after we showered at home. We had the restaurant to ourselves, as everyone else did take out.

It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary together!!
