Spinach

Every night I put on Karissa's plate the veggie that we're having with our dinner. Usually a piece of broccoli or a green bean. Yet, every night she does not even touch it, despite my attempts to encourage her to eat it. Once in a while when we have peas she will a few of them frozen, but never cooked. She does like raw cucumbers, carrots, and peppers, but we can't do overkill around here. If offer those to her too often, she will refuse them and then she will not eat any veggies! So this week, when I was eating my spinach salad she wanted to eat it with me! It happened not only once, but twice! She didn't eat just a little either. She ate enough for me to have to make more! I guess spinach salad is raw like the other veggies she likes, but I just never thought my two-year-old would like salad! I never even liked it until I was a teenager. Of course Victoria won't touch it, but notice in one of the pictures, her hand is reaching for a cucumber in the salad. Luckily, Victoria is a good eater now and always eats her veggies, though I do salt and pepper them, which I know that's better than the norm (cooked with butter), but I never cared about salt and pepper on my veggies. At least I only have to add salt and pepper to her food to get her to eat now. Jason used to only eat Baco sandwiches; made with Baco bits, mayo, and on white bread. UGHHH! Poor Kay!

The Inauguration

I keep remembering today how four years ago Victoria and I went to Bush's inauguration with my friend Andrea. We were living at Andrews AFB at the time and decided it was our only opportunity to go. It is a great memory, but as you can see from the pictures it was very cold, though I'm sure not as cold as it's been here in Michigan lately!

The Zoo

We went to the Detroit Zoo right after the new year. We mostly saw things inside since the ground was covered in snow and it was in the 20s. We spent a long time in the butterfly house where the s could just about touch the butterflies!

The worker was a little nervous about the kids being so close to the butterflies.

We also saw the alligators, who were very happy to see our daughters! They actually came over to the window to see them. I know what they were thinking--lunch!!

Strings

For some reason, Victoria loves to tie strings to anything and everything that looks like it needs strings attached to it. Of course the banister is one of her favorites, but she also ties them to chairs and knobs, even her dollhouse! In fact, she ties to her dollhouse more than she plays with it- go figure!

My First Blog!

In honor of our tenth year, 10 years since Jason and I have known each other and this summer 10 years since we've been married, I decided to join the blogging world. Even though I am extremely technically challenged, I managed to do it! I am mostly doing it as a family journal, as well as to let the grandparents watch our family grow, and whoever else cares to hear about the exciting activities that go on here in our home in SE Michigan. Hopefully I can keep an entertaining record and not let the master bloggers down!
