Easter was late this year, which was good since I was gone so much in March and early April. Jason and I had off on Good Friday, but the public schools didn't, so while the kids were at school, we went swimming at the Summit and to lunch with our friends Karyn and Joe.
Jason, Austin, and I sang in the ward choir for Easter, which meant we had a practice early Saturday morning, before Austin and Owen (who is the choir pianist) had to leave for a track meet. After the track meet, we all went to see Kade perform in the pit for the high school play, Brigadoon! It was closing night. We loved hearing him play the music!

We didn't color Easter eggs this year, the first time in 20 years. Last year, the kids got so into it, as they have every year, but they got mad when I ate their eggs. Since they still don't like hard-boiled eggs (Erik used to), and our friends were bringing the deviled eggs for dinner, which our kids don't eat, I decided it wasn't worth it to dye eggs. The 3 of them all eat a lot of fried eggs now, even Erik. I haven't been eating as many eggs myself with the higher egg prices because I want my kids to have them. I figured there was no point in hard-boiling a bunch of eggs that only Jason and I would eat.

I was going to bypass an egg hunt as well, but Kade really wanted me to do one. So he and Erik filled the eggs, and I hid them. They also wanted me to hide the baskets in hard places, but as I didn't buy them anything special for their baskets, except for one small thing each, I didn't think it was worth it. They decided that each person would hide one for someone else. Then they could use their baskets to find the plastic eggs.
We watched some uplifting Easter videos and prepped for our friends to come for Easter dinner. There were 24 of us! Three families, plus ours, and a friend of my Aunt Karen's whose family lives down the street from her in SLC. Andrew works for Ford and lives only 20 minutes from us.
We provided ham, roasted potatoes, and carrots, the Farnsworths brought rolls and a fruit salad, the Dalebouts brought asparagus, a salad, and carrot cake, and the Remingtons brought deviled eggs and dessert Easter egg nests.
The food was delicious, the company was fantastic, and it completed our Easter Day!

we were twiners on Easter, both in Yellow! I love your hair. Sure miss seeing all of you all! it has been too long.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful family! You really pop amongst all your men. 😍 I wondered if we would dye eggs this year since eggs have been so expensive, but I've been getting 5 dozen at a time for a fairly decent price. I think the box I bought before Easter was about $20. My most recent box was only $16! Feels like a miracle. Of the 21 eggs we dyed, I ended up eating all but 4, I think. Not too many of my people at home right now enjoy hard cooked eggs. Yet another way our families are so similar!
