With our 3 high schools at PCEP come 3 homecomings. Each Friday night is the football game and Saturday is the dance. All 3 football teams aren't great this year. I think they all lost their HOCO games, which is discouraging for the teams and getting old for the fans. Last weekend, the marching band also held the annual 8th Grade Band Night at the Plymouth HOCO game. Austin had decided that he was done with choir at school and wanted to be in the band, in case he decides to be in marching band next year in HS. At first, the band teacher was concerned about him joining band as an 8th grader, thinking he'd have a hard time learning an instrument that quickly, as others have been in for a year or two. Well, it didn't take long for Austin, and his friends, to convince Mr. Hartge that he has played the piano for over 6 years and the cello for over 2 years and that he could definitely handle percussion (his instrument of choice in the band). It was exciting to watch him jam out to the beats at the game and see his little head bobbing up and down out in the field at halftime (he was behind a very tall kid and could barely be seen!) I definitely enjoyed watching the band, the cheer, pom, and dance teams way more than the game! Unfortunately, Kai hadn't been feeling well and wasn't able to perform, but was there in the stands for the excitement of it all!
I managed to get a pic of Austin and Kai walking up to the stands. Kai's on the left on the ramp half in shadow and Austin's at the top of the stairs.
The hike up to the stands where the percussion sits.
Band tunes!
(Austin's head is the small one in the mid-right in the back. )
The marching band goes to a specified dance each year, depending on their competition schedule. This year they went to Plymouth's homecoming dance. A week before that, Victoria went to Salem's HOCO, her last one in HS! (Actually, she got to make an appearance at Plymouth's last weekend as well, thanks to the help of some very nice friends!)

There's always a Color Guard dinner before HOCO. This is the group this year.

She's the Senior of the group, so they had her go in the front and center!
And then in the meantime, Vicotria's shin/ankle pain which has been bothering her on and off since July at Cougarette camp became really problematic. The x-ray showed a high ankle sprain. There's a lump there, so she now has a boot and crutches. 6 weeks off it!
